I got fed up with not being able to use the stock side stand on my bike. It was marginally too short when the bike was stock, and completely unusable with the longer rear shocks on the bike now. My original idea was to lengthen the stock side stand using the piece of another stand. I dug up an old RD350 side stand for use as a donor. After looking at it I thought it was the overall length I wanted and started seeing about just using the RD stand on the bike. The RD stand is about 2” longer than the H2 part. I had to slightly widen the pivot slot to make it fit the H2 frame, and make a small bushing in the H2 pivot hole for the smaller diameter RD pivot bolt. Once it was mounted I thought it would work as is with the return spring tab added at the same point as the H2. Add some paint and it is mounted and finished, and works perfectly. Mark |

Good engineering, sir. Only thing I would consider is to use/make a shouldered bolt instead of a bushing, simply because the shoulder bolt would be stronger for the heavier motorcycle. Either way should work. |

I have been buying and refinishing S3/KH400 side stands for years and selling them as a cure for the lean on eBay. A perfect fit with no machining or welding needed. The toe hold, or "tang" used to deploy the 400 stand is a bit short and some have added a piece on the that area. Other than that, easy peasy swap out with excellent results. And it does use a shoulder stud like the original H2 stand as well. |

I could use the H2 shouldered bolt if I drilled out the hole on one side of the pivot hole. The threaded side of the hole is the same on both. I might still do that. I figured for $20 and an hour it was worth a try. I’m happy with it. |

Good tip MGMark! You might also consider welding a small metal plate under the foot of the stand to beef it up. Park the bike on soft blacktop or hard packed dirt and the bike might tip over. |

Good going, Mark. I cut my H2 stand and welded in a piece of mild steel rod about the same diameter. Whatever works is good. ![]() You're planning to be there in August, aren't you? |

Hey Jim, I already have the week off work so I will be there in August. I will see you there. Yeah Mike, I considered making that foot a bit bigger. It is smaller than the H2 stand. I’ll do it when I have it off to modify it for the shouldered pivot bolt. Mark |

I cut three of mine below the spring attachment tit and welded in a short piece to the shaft. Problem solved. |
