Hi Guys & Gals

Got a new set of standard rings (13008-041) 60mm coming, my 71 h1a compression is down to about 95 psi in all three and plan on doing a deglazing hone and re ring.. was wondering if I need to check the ring end gap if I'm just deglazing by hone and not removing any material. I pulled all three heads a month ago and inspected the bores and they are smooth as glass and have no signs of piston damage either, but wont know for sure till I pull the jugs. Any words of warning will be appreciated and does anyone have pictures of what a perfect deglazed bore should look like? I want to do this right so as to not have to do a bore any time soon. I still need to purchase a hone and oil, any size work best and brand of honing oil, any advise?

Can't wait to ride my her with 142 psi in each...

Thanks
Steve

Always check the tolerences and do a leakdown test just for the sound of mind. Just my thoughts though. How many miles on the engine. :?:

I wonder the same thing, Duane. How many miles?

Steve, when you did the compression test, did you hold the throttle wide open and kick until the gauge quit rising? I'd think an H1 should go way over 10,000 miles before the compression starts to get below normal. I've never had to rering my H2. The service limit was always the piston-bore clearance.

Yes I did forget a minor detail my bikes current mileage is 19,352 and NO on the question about throttle position while compression testing (at idle position)

Thanks Guys..

Have to hold that throttle wide open and kick it a few times to get a correct reading. :)
