I've seen what you are talking about Dave, is a really good idea, don't think I have the time to do that right now, but would be my next step if this detent arm is not able to control the drum positioning. The double arm is really to control drum inertia from a fast shift, and physically stop that, something I think the detent arm should be able to control. The overshifting problem JaMoo, that was because the shift stop/ centering pin was loose (jam nut not tight at all), and let the shift claw shove the drum further than it was supposed to go, I suspect pushed it to the point of the detent arm being on top of the next pin, leaving the dogs right at their ends, and then with load the dogs shoved themselves apart and got a false neutral between first and second.
