Have you seen the flimsy disk on a modern dirt bike? Not to mention the fact that there are only two little bolts holding the caliper on...

I was looking at my KDX and then realized how much lighter, less powerful, and how little traction there is for a dirt bike on dirt compared to a triple on asphalt.

my kdx is street titled, and with street tires will do stoppies on the asphalt. Im never worried about the brakes?

I also know a guy that put a CR250 front end on a ZX750 Ninja (with dual sport tires) and rides the thing all over. And he is a big dude (240lbs++). Last I heard, he is still with us, and still riding that mini dirtbike disc'd sportbike around.

Dude, why you wasting time with all this antique triples / EX junk.
Since you're in fab mode an a Kustom, why not just slam some cheap light weight dirt bike brakes on and be done...
(unless just maybe they are not quite strong enough for that super high speed stop in the future :wtf: )

That's a good way to put it. Have you noticed how ugly engines have gotten, now that the designers know they'll be hidden behind plastic? Frames too. Hell, everything about most new bikes is ugly.

(You kids get off my lawn!)

I don't think I've actually "seen" the engine on my ZX10R, and I don't care.( Know what the sump plug looks like!) Whether new bikes have "soul" or not, dunno, but hold it full throttle thru a couple of gears, and tell me about it!!
