I got about 10 seasons out of my surface gap plugs -- in my 60hp Mariner triple. That was a ton of tubing, water skiing and evening wine tours around the lake. Sold it to my neighbors 3 seasons ago..and I know he hasn't changed the plugs..because evidently the boat came with a lifetime service contract.. :shifty:

Weren't they (relatively) expensive, back in the day, like 4/5 times the cost of a normal plug? Kawasaki stopped using them and so did all of us!

If they didn't foul or wear out, then there wouldn't be a need to change them out. That wasn't the case.

And I don't see how a plug would know the difference between a battery CDI and magneto CDI. Seems both have a ton of voltage. Why would it work in one, and not the other? (for Dave)

Has anyone actually found BUHX plugs in a bike they bought?

The 71 H1-A I purchased that was originally purchased in Tokyo has them in it. :D

I assume John meant "bought in recent decades"/used. Yep, ALL those I've seen have the easier attainable B9s or B8s, etc. But NEW; I was around 3 new H1/H1a, mine and friends, and those US bikes came with surface gaps (NGKs, not Champions).
