Is this going to be a bolt on brace?
Was not aware that one could weld stainless to a carbon steel swingarm?

BTW- Before everyone jumps on the SS bandwagon, we tested some bolts a while back with a super precision torque wrench. As I recall, even Grade 3 was MUCH stronger than SS; Grade 5&8 were beyond comparrison.

A piece of 4130 alloy in that size is $26 for 6' from McMaster
just sayin

no problem welding stainless to mild. Just have to use stainless rod to help "buffer" the joint. And it will be powdercoated, so corrosion wont be an issue.

as for strength.. Its just being used to stiffen an existing s-arm, so in this application is more than strong enough..

Again, Im not using the stainless cause I think its cool... Im using it because I have it!

Stock
15/45 = 3.00 Final Drive

Most people (myself included) throw a 14 tooth front on an H1 and that equates to:

14/45 = 3.214 Final Drive

With a 16/50, I end up with a 3.125 Final Drive Ratio....

So, its actually a TALLER gearing then I would usually run on an H1!!!!!

so....... :e11 :e11 :e11

Maybe you'll get away with it with a stock motor... I'm running 16/48 and considering moving to 47 or 46, either that or a longer swingarm. Wheelies are fun but cant make good use of 1st gear.

Yep, stock motor with chambers/pods, and weight bias more forward than a stocker, so it shouldn't be too wheelie prone.

Believe me, this bike will not see any long-distance touring Guys, so slightly steeper gearing from stock will be just fine. Ive got 15/47 (basically the same as 16/50) on the Denco H1 and it is just fine cruising at 80mph.. Granted, its only getting 25mpg doing it but who cares.. and that one is more set up for "touring"... its even got a luggage rack!
