Hi

My name is Bjorn Sandin and I'm the new editor of the Classic Kawasaki Sweden club Magazine and also a proud H2 -72 owner. The magazine covers all Kawasaki models from the 60's, 70's and the 80's. Many club members are triple owners and I have a plan to cover the magic of triples from various angles.
It seems that the Deals Gap triple meeting is an interesting subject from what I´ve been reading on this forum. My plan is to write an article about the Deals Gap meeting.
But, since I live on the other side of the planet and never attended the meeting I have no first hand info.
Some info and stories from the meeting and some pics or links to pics would be very appreciated.
Posts on the forum, PM or mail works equally good.

Thanks in advance from Bjorn Sandin, Ludvika, Sweden

Hi Bjorn, nice to see you post today.
Dont forget the awesome meets we have in Canada each year.
Not as long running an event as the 2 stroke meets in DG, but great stories etc. all the same.

Hi

New ideas are created :!:
I think the Deals Gap article is the first one in a series covering the world of triple meetings.

Thanks for the pic link.
I still need some basic data like:
- For how many years has the meeting been going on?
- Typical number of participants?
- Who organizes the meeting?
- Is there any any organized activities
- And so on

I'm a relative newcomer to the DG meets. Ric is instrumental in organizing them, so you can email him if he doesn't come in here.

Bjorn,

Even though I am a Yamaha twin guy (the orginial girlie biker :D ) I have been allowed to attend since 2007. The triple guys make me gather up pictures and videos of the annual meet (if I don't there is telling what would happen to me) and make a movie for them to watch until the next meet. There are a number of Deals Gap two stroke meet videos on my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/evansje1?feature=watch
Here are some of my favorite. Let me know if I can help.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F11mv7vHJEE The year 2010

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sns27qYoKE8 The year 2011

In 2012 I got a GoPro camera and shot so much video I had to do a series of movies called "Old Folks On Two Strokes" this is the trailer to that series.

The 2013 video is let to be released.

I still need some basic data like:
- For how many years has the meeting been going on?

I believe this year was the 14th year. It started out as a triples meet, and then turned into a 2 stroke meet, as many guys had different brands, and more people migrated to different brand boards.

- Typical number of participants?

It varies, I think around 80 people is the high number of guys that have shown up.

- Who organizes the meeting?

There are really no "actual" organizers. Ric took over the reservation with the resort a few years ago, to make it easier for the resort. As the meet is unofficially 8 days long, things happen, so guy come in and fall out, which is a nightmare for the resort. So Ric keeps this all in line. Jeff G. does the T-shirts and Banner, And Chris does the medical information part. No one has an official post, or is it really an official meet. It's all volunteer.

- Is there any any organized activities

No, that's the fun of it. There are so many roads and things to see, we usually just ask around were guys are going and go with them if interested. There is the Dragon, which is the big draw to the area, 318 curves in 11 miles. But that gets very crowded on weekends (one of the reasons we lengthened the meet to a week, so we had weekdays to play on it) Then there is about a 20 mile ride, to the nearest town of Robbinsville which as a great sweeping road that follows a river. then there are dams to go see and a big loop through the Cherohala skyway (about 100 miles) of sweeping mountain roads up to 5000ft of altitude. And a huge old bike museum Wheels through time about 60 miles away. Basically just a great place that you can go in any direction to find a great road, or something to see.

We do "rarely" get a group together to go someplace, but it's like herding cats, not usually successful. We don't have a "show" or any judging, as that brings in a competitive spirit which is more of a nevative than a positive with us guys.

- And so on

Bjorn

Hi

Great info. I've got all I need. Ric also send me a PM with tons of valuable information, thanks.
I'll use all this material and put an article together.
(I almost feel that I´ve been at the meeting myself)

Many thanks from Bjorn :D :D
