With 4,000 miles round trip ahead I thought I'd look into a better tie-down arrangement for my H2. This may not be pretty but it's really SOLID.

Neat. Make a 4-point harness for it so you can haul it up a tree at night, and you won't take up a parking space at the meet.

You have WAY too much time on your hands  They come from the factory with adequate tie down points ;) But, for peace of mind and 5 mins work you are sorted  As an aside, the quality of the straps is equally as important as their location on the bike -If you are a Sams Club member, do yourself a favor and spend $20 on a set of 4 Goodyear Ratchett tie downs - I buy nearly 1,000 pieces a year and have never had a failure other than bad routing (This pic is from the days before I found the straps a S C ;)

+1 on straps Rick, learned that one early on. Oh - if you have young adult kids - watch out - they'll steal them :o

Well, this photos was taken 5 years ago, back when you could get a nice Z1 for $3,500, a couple of pals bought every one that came up for 6 months (around 40 of them) the price on Ebay then went from an average of $3,500 to $7,500 and following Months upwards from there
.
When I first started transporting bikes with the 20ft flatbed I would get 10 bikes aboard . .. soon found out that with care (I Know it looks a mess) - I could get 14 aboard . . . didn't need to get in that toolbox anyway!
