Hey Björn, here is a link to our somewhat epic ride. Definitely not Iron Butt, however, it wasn't a Saturday afternoon cruise either LOL. I fast-forwarded to page 27 so you it didn't take longer to read the thread than the ride actually took..

Congrats!

I've done an 1000 mile ride in a day but on a very comfortable Kawasaki 1000 LTD.

Thanks for valuable input regarding my loss of power.

I have actually done another Iron Butt this year on my FRJ1300. The difference between a 1972 H2 and a 2001 FJR1300 is suprisingly small. The butt pain, loss of feel in the right hand,
tiredness and loss of mental capacity is more or less the same. The big difference is the groin pain on the H2. Another difference is that ride a H2 is a lot more fun.

The only thing that bothers me now is that Jeff did 1100 miles and I just 1060. We will se what happens....

Well done!!!! I really don't envy you :? But what does surprise me is the fuel economy, I regularly ride 100 miles at 60+ MPH & always get 45+ MPG

agree at 130 140 kph regular, 5th gear on highway (with vgc needle jets and jet needles) I do 9.5 to 10 liters per 100 kilometers 8-)

The overall consumption was 157.7 liters, this equals 31 MPG but it was down to 24 at 70 MPH cruising and medium strong front wind.
I´ve also been up to around 45 MPG but that was very gentle driving at low speed, guess below 50 MPH.

Don't let that bother you...40 miles difference over a saddle sore 1000 is nothing. Congratulations on getting your certification.

I only got about 20mpg on my ride and now that all I can get is 10% ethanol, my highway mileage is down around 15.
