I got my pipes painted. I used a high-temp rattle-can paint from o'reilly's.

I had to cure the paint at 200F for 1 hour and the pipes are too big to fit in my oven in he kitchen (not that my wife would approve anyway). So, I came up with this contraption

it's a sheet of 3/4 R4 residential insulation. I cut pieces and formed it into a box with no top. I then cut a hole in the end for a reddi-heater. I hung my pipes inside and placed a lid on it. It held 230F for 1.5 hours and didn't show any signs of melting

I got some of my components painted tonight. First time I have ever used a base coat/clear coat system. The base coat turned out great

The paint brand is Nason. I got it from my local o'reilly auto parts. The color is a standard 'chevy black'. It's a 3-part paint and it went on awesome. Sprayed it with a Campbell-Hausfeld gun from walmart using a 1.4 tip and 40 psi at the gun.

I will try my hand at clear-coat on Wednesday (hopefully) and try not to mess anything up

Here are pictures of the tank and side panels. The black stripe has been misted with the same green metallic that the frame was painted with. I don't think you can see it in the pictures but if you get the light right the black stripe turns green. Pretty cool

Got to give you credit. That's a big project. I always liked purple. When I saw it with the green it reminded me of a vid my kids use to watch. If I ever repaint my 73, it's going back to purple.

You need to make a video of the finished project and a run down the road.
Very cool.
