Yes, I think you'll need an oxy-acetylene torch with a heating tip, or an oxy-acetylene cutting torch with the oxygen jet turned off.

I did that once with some hydroformed pipes. Worked like a charm.

I'm going to light some candles for this fab fabricator.

A guy from Maine I know used that method on some FPPs and they came out virtually perfect. He used A LOT of heat and indeed the plug once shot out and put a hole through his garage door..he had the pipes cherry red.

I used this method on a 4 stroke header once, and yes I did proceed to shoot the plug across the garage as well  At least in didn't go through the garage door though.

One thing to remember is if you put to much heat in, there is a chance of blowing a hole out on it.

I've got some more updates on my bike. I spent some time welding on my rear plastics to fill in the holes and make them look a little nice. They turned out pretty well. The black areas by the tail light are actually the plastic weld

I need to find a headlight that I like, fix a couple holes in the upper plastics, find a new tail light (I kind of melted mine :D ). By the time I get that stuff done I'll have thought of 10 more things to do! What fun!

I got tired of looking at that banged-in right side expansion chamber so I busted out the grinder and the welder.

Here's what I started with:

here's how it turned out:

I got some padding on the seat. 5 layers of 10 lb. carpet padding and 1 layer of 7 lb. padding. turned out pretty well and it isn't too bad on the backside

I also have a headlight assembly but I am not sold on it. I'm going to have to do some shaping at the least

I spent some time modifying my plastic headlight assembly to fit the bike better aesthetically. I basically chopped off the top 'ears' and cut it down so the tops of the gages were just peeking over the top of the fairing. Then I compared my two headlight assemblies.

Here's a side shot of the angular headlight assembly:

Here's one of the round:
