I'm rebuilding a 75 h1 that will be mostly stock except for chambers.
I think I would like to upgrade the carbs with some newer mikunis but Not sure what size or model to go with.
Been reading through a bunch of posts but still not sure which way to go.
By the way, this is my first triple and I have very little experience with two strokes except for the RD 350 I purchased last year.
Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with the originals, and there is lots of jetting information on the resource site. If you want to go bigger, you can go with Mikuni VMs of the size you choose, but you will have to deal with how to mount them, how to handle the starter plungers, etc. With a stock engine that has chambers, stock carbs aren't a bad way to go.

Have you run it stock yet?

No I have not. Was a non running bike when I purchased it a while back.
The bike needs everything and is down to a bare frame right now but I have almost all the parts to start reassembling.
I have no experience with these engines so I'm picking brains before I make changes.
I'm not concerned with the mounting challenges, but don't want to waste time and money if there is no improvement.
I am more concerned with low end response and torque than top end as most my riding is in town.
I had Charlie Smith rebuild my crank and have wossner pistons, and ordered a set of higgs chambers. I'm still not sure what other mods I would like to make such as adjusting squish clearance.
If stock is the way to go, I'm ok with that.

Squish clearance is a good thing to correct. If you're going for low end, it may be best to stick with stock carbs and airbox.

Air flow is the biggest factor, aside from good chambers.
Remove the trumpet from air box.
Battleax has had great success by using 90deg elbows to carbs for improved low end.
Another factor is timing.... try 25deg rather than 23deg.
All or any of these changes will require modified carb setup.
Stock carbs should do well with these changes and far easier than fitting new, larger carbs.... not saying than new VM or TM carbs can't be beneficial but can be very time consuming to setup.

Thanks for the input guy's.
I'm still a long way from carb work.
I need to do a bunch more research on head and cylinder mods before I start cutting anything.
If you can steer me in a direction on machining dimensions for squish clearance and combustion chamber profiles
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

You know, it might be best to start with it completely stock. Then you'll have a baseline for any future modifications. They run pretty darned well stock.

Good start with the Charlie Smith rebuilt crank, Wossner pistons and Higgspeed chambers.
