Looks to be chrome plated steel from the surface rust.

That crossed my mind too, Andrew, but you know Cody well enough to know he wouldn't make that mistake. :-)

The brackets are mild steel (that are rusting) welded to the stainless tubing....

there are no cracks at the joints either and I can only Imagine all of the Fat Hippies that hung off this grabrail whilst the driver was doing 5th gear wheelies at 150.

maybe not the very first H1R's, but not long after they started producing them....
Boxed swingarms are all Ive seen in photos including the Factory Literature. And Ive never seen a photo of an H2R with a round tube swinger...

This bike is a '75, so is totally period correct....if I went that route.....which Im not......so it doesn't matter anyways.....

although I agree the FZR400 swingarm would be hard to camoflauge and overkill (length, size of box) for this project.

I admit ignorance to this swing arm thing, but couldn't you install a stock arm and see then if any mods are needed??? Aren't we talking about a street bike?
Seems to me maybe a bit of overthinking but, again, I'm ignorant when it comes to this topic.

the point is the arm will flex at one rate, the stainless at another. since all points ont he stainless structure will be fixed to amoving part, it will strain it. Its not constrained as a backrest so it usually wont crack in that situation. Cody, did ya throw a magnet on it?

I agree, it probably wont need to be braced. But it wont hurt either.

aaaah it doesn't matter  Its too heavy anyways.

the more I dwell on it, the more I'm liable to just run the stock S-Arm and "see what its like". If it feels noticably squirelly, its 10 minutes to swap out a swingarm...no big deal.

You guys saved me some more time. Thanks!

I doubt you'll have issues with the stock swinger... Especially if you look at the limited rigidity you'll gain with a fully braced one.

I would think you would only "feel" any flexing on the track, or very high (illegal) cornering speeds on the street.
