The 69 H1 clutch hub looks like it takes 9 steel plates since the hub doesn't have a base like the later ones. Do you use the smaller diameter plate first and then a regular steel plate on top of it before the first friction plate? When I took it apart it had 9 steels and 7 friction plates plus the 7 expander rings. Also a friction plate should be last against the pressure plate like on H2's? |

Yes I see that and have the smaller steel plate. Looks like it goes in first and then a normal size steel plate on top of it. Then a expander ring followed by a friction plate. From the pictures it looks like the last plate is a steel one and it's against the pressure plate. That doesn't seem right running a steel plate to the aluminum pressure plate. Think I should just stick to later bikes |

The correct pressure plate for your early H1 is made of steel and not keyed to the hub, hence the required extra steel beside the pressure plate. J |

Just checked the pressure plate with a magnet, it's steel. |
