Just finished a complete rebuild, the sprocket collar doesn't have a chamfer on either side, should I machine one in for a O-ring?

Make it the same as the later spacer fitted, with a chamfer at both ends (avoids installation confusion in the future). ;)

EDIT: I just looked at a 1969 spacer. There is a VERY small chamfer on each end. The later 500 spacer has a bigger chamfer on each end...

Had to take out my magnifier to see the chamfer. I think I will fix it........

Now that you finished a complete rebuild for a 71 motor, what are your
plans for it?
