Hi all
Can anyone advise on how you correctly asebly all the parts of the fuel cap on a 1975 S1C particulary the vent tube bit, gasket and the cap withthe rubber seal on as shwon in the attached photos. Left my tank in the sun for quite a while as was rubbing it down earleir to spray, when finished i put a small amountof petrol in to slosh it round ot clean any rubbish in there, the tank started hissing and when I removed lid I got a massive whoosh like the vent tub wasn;t workking, so I wante dot check how you line this channel up in the lid ot the gasket and the other part. Its not blocked with any rubbih and is nice and clean but i am unsure so hopefully someone can help.
Thanks
mark

They should be arranged so that the channel forces air or liquid to go the full length of it (about 3/4 of a full circle), through the hole in the disk to the other channel, and around its full length in the opposite direction before escaping. Gaskets should be stacked between each layer. Of course the gaskets need to have holes in the appropriate places to allow the channels to continue, and for the locating pins.
