Post subject:  Question on replacing H2 wiring harness

I'm in the process of replacing the wiring harness on my 73 H2 with a Taiwan made replacement that looks to be pretty good quality. My concern is the 3 red wires emerging from the harness that connect to the coils. One wire has a white band about 3/4 " long to differentiate it from the other two but none are marked L,R,C. Likewise, the three red wires that emerge downstream for connection to the CDI unit are not differentiated or marked L,R,C either but one of these is also marked with the white band. Would it be safe to assume the red wire with the white band denotes Center cylinder? That would leave the other two red wires for connection to L and R cylinders but no indication which wire is for which cylinder. Does it not matter? Just looking for some guidance from someone who has run into this when replacing a wiring harness. Thanks in advance.

Best to use an ohmmeter and wiring diagram. Never assume anything. :?

To add to that, all that matters is that the output of the L CDI unit goes to the L coil, the output of the C CDI unit to the C coil (etc). Once you decide on the order, then you can mark the wires to make maintenance easier later.
