Post subject:  How to remove transmission locating pins?

I have a few H1 engine cases that have the locating pins holding gear shaft/kick starter etc. that have been pushed all the way into the cases. The locating pins are made of pretty hard material. Any suggestions on how to get them out?

I carefully weld a washer to the exposed end... pull it out with a pliers... grind off the washer-slag from the end ...flip it over and tap it back into place..
No holes in the case and good as new :D

I have used the method Johnny linked to above. Just do it carefully, that is, make sure the angle you're drilling at will get behind the pin. When the pin is pushed back out. JB weld can fill in the hole.

Has anyone tried a "stinger"? It is a stud welder used to pull dents during body work.

Worth a shot. The ones I had to pull were buggers and took some good smacking around to get them to move.
