When I put the plugs back in the Z1A last night the #3 plug screwed in normally until about half way down and then bound up for a half a turn then released and screwed in, stripped. Which threaded insert do you guys prefer? |

I have used both and never had problems with either Keencserts or Heli- coils, but never used them on spark plug threads. |

Those do look a little better than helicoils. I had to have a helicoil put in my G3SS in 1972 because I cross-threaded it. It lasted till I sold the bike. I'm a little disappointed, I was enjoying riding the old girl. |

Using any of the repair inserts will result in stronger threads than the originals, so it doesn't matter much which ones you choose. |

I use Time-Serts all the time, dislike Heli-Serts, despise Keen-serts. Heli-Serts are NOT strong, Keen-Serts murder the surrounding metal with the key stop bars, rendering welding the only way to fix them when they fail. |
