I am using an H1 cable to get the throw right on the pump for the VM 34s so mine is backed off a bit to prevent over travel at wide open. As you know Dave oils are so much better now than they were when we were young... :)

On my H2's with 34 round slides, I ran the stock throttle cables, stock oil pump cable, no problems.

We used to back the oil pomps way off, worked better, especially on first year H1's, all H2's.

We had a couple of good oils back then, and some really bad synthetics like Klotz, NPG, and, many had no idea to not use outboard premix oils in the injection systems.

The shop I apprenticed in in the 70s was a Klotz dealer I used it for years. I later discovered that they have little to no corrosion inhibitors and I switched to Blue Marble. I think Klotz was better than the conventional oils at the time but not worth the $15 a quart that it was selling for last I checked. My bikes set most of the time so I switched.

I've used either Blendzall injector oil (the late Ray Hook owned, and formulated Bldndzall oils, he was a great friend), or the two stroke Castrol injector oil, and Key Oil two stroke (Kawasaki K2S) injector oils.

I did work with John Klotz to try to make his oils better, we did make a very few small steps forward, but not nearly enough.

Of course, we used Castrol R bean oils in the race bikes, both with the oil pump set to idle (no pump cable), and 30:1 premix together.

With the regular injector oils, I like to add an ounce of Castrol R to a just fully filled fuel tank of my street, injected bikes just to make the engine "smell right".

Blendzall was the single best racing castor oil around, leaps and bounds better than the Castrol R, but, when Hansen got a sponsorship, we used what he got. Ray made the Blendzall through a refining process that removed 95 percent of the harmful gums and other adverse. gooey, sticky stuff, great oil.

After setting for a week, I checked the level in the oil tank and it was exactly the same as when I ran it last week
Started on 3rd kick and all 3 pipes smoked evenly. Put 40 miles on and it ran great. I will do a final detail a few days before the Gap.
Next on the lift is the RZ350 for new steering stem bearings.
