Maybe if you are into modifying main jets, it would be a good idea to check flow instead of size.

Flow makes sense.

I only want to know: what size Mikuni jet number correspond to the hole diameter.
I want to use a brass jet that is the same thickness, Mikuni brand or otherwise; i.e. modify some stuff in the shop instead of spending $$ for the same result; plus during teardown no one would know my poor jetting secrets; Muuuhhhhaaaaaaaaaa

It's certainly do-able. I used one of the stock 30mm carbs from my H2 when I put 34s on it, on my 18 hp Evinrude that powers my 8' hydroplane. The main jet was way too lean, so I did what you want to do, and drilled bigger and bigger numbered drill sizes until it ran right. It still runs right 35 year later.

I have a feeling that numbered drills are not all close enough together to handle all the Mikuni main jet sizes. You may have to put together a special set somehow, or maybe there's a set made for the purpose that I've never come across.

Drilling jets on a single lunger is not a problem at all but you'll want 3 that flow the same on a triple.
I haven't played around with this but I remember reading that surface finish, burrs or shape can cause different flow values almost as much as size.

Good to know
My only experience has been with a main jets on Holley dumper pumper carb which is an entirely different animal

As I understand jets, Mikuni round are specified in mm, Mikuni Hex jets are quoted in flow rates. Every Mikuni round jet I have measured with a gauge is in thousands of a mm, every good quality aftermarket jet (keyster) and the likes also measure quite accurately.
