Can the early Kawasaki H1 engine cases be fitted/modified (drilled out) to support rubber mounts from later ebginer cases or do I need the later engine cases if I want rubber mounts? thanks

From the resource site: http://kawatriple.com/tips/mounts/rubbermount.htm

Most of the information is about H2s, but if all else fails, the external option should work for an H1. Owning an H2 with solid mounts, I never thought an H1 vibrated enough to need rubber mounts though.

Thanks for quick reply

My crankshaft was fully rebuilt by Charlie. All three cylinders are NOS and pistons and ring Kawasaki ... I put the engine mounting shims same way they came out Not many miles on it yet so have not reved it too high for too long. Under 5500 rpm is OK but as you go up in RPM it definelty has stronger and stronger tingles on the hands and some on the feet which is very unconfortable for sure. I have the orginal flutted hand grips which I imagine are stiff. I have been riding Suzuki triples for too long and Yamaha RDs. Even my Suzuki twins (T350 and T500) vibrate very much less (those rubber mounted handle bars really work).

So maybe I am spoiled or someting else? But wish I came accross the rubber mounts sooner and did not even realize the 69-73 (mine is 73 H1D with ~5000 miles) were not rubbber mounted and the 74 up models had this added. Kawasaki took action to improve things with respect to vibration. It seems like its worth a try as not enjoyable to rev up for me.

Not sure if normal for a 73 and under H1 to vibrate as much in comparison to my other vintage 2 -strokes or what else to check based on people with more Kawasaki triple experience. Any advice apreciated.

My D model I had to ride 150 miles after graduation.
Mostly rain and I was spent. 26 years old.

Today with hot rodding, gives 30 minutes before enough.

The cranks on these naturally rock/twist left to right up and down. Primary couple.

This takes the frame and all attached to it solidly, for a ride.

To show this is my first Kawa 2 stroke road bike, I just realized it does have rubber mounted handlebars  . I just compared my H1D handlebars to one of my Suzuki T350 and T500. The H1D moves but stiff. And, if I push forward no movement at all as if metal to metal in the direction. If I pull back some movement but stiff, side to side very stiff. Both my Ts move in all directions and more freely. Seems like this a no brainer to try. I'll try a couple brands to see who's is more complianted?

My 1974 Suz GT250 did not have rubber mounted handlebars from factory. When I swapped out the RAM AIR 250 with all its damping goop on the RAM covers and head fin with many soft rubber between head fins with a T350 with head fins connecting with metal casting, not rubber, cyliders as well, the vibration was very strong and uncomfortable as well. I modified the top triple tree to accept T350 rubber, like my other true T350s and no more vibration in hands, one of my favorite bikes to ride for hours. I would say the H1D is bit worse than a T350 in the 74 GT250 for I feel it in my feet too, not so much on the Suz. I did put new foot peg rubber on my T350s because kept spinnong off... they still seem stiff. maybe cut some flutes in as set for H1 500... can you still buy rubber replacements for foot pegs?

For long ride enjoyemen - me thinks

Change hand grips

Change rubber in handle bars and verify movement on all axis.

New foot peg rubber (is this available?), cut flutes or Dr. Scholls jell inserts in my shoes :edit :maybe there is a way to add rubber bushing to front foot peg bracket ...hmmm?

rubber mount engine (do case mods to accept gt750/gt550 rubber or change to later case and buy new fresh compliant rubber set while you can find them still. or something more custom ... not sure yet... I do have some of these Suz mounts, but old. maybe soak in ATP-205 or Blue Devil run a test as see.

thanks

Motorcycle vibration is a little like tinnitus... the closer attention you pay to it, the more it bothers you. :)

Cheaper just to go with good 74-76 cases.
I deal with the vibs on purpose. The engine is now a stressed member of the frame, very stiff and precise as a mid 70's jap bike can be.

Just finished converting my '74 H2B to rubber mount.
