Question: I don't live to far from Buchanan's Spoke & Rim and now that my rims are re-chromed it's time for new spokes. So should I... -A- buy the spokes on Ebay that look close to the originals, OR -B- just let Buchanan's handle it while using there own brand of spokes.

Also, this is a restore.

Thanks

I believe that Buchanan's actually makes their spokes from stainless wire. I think stainless spokes are an advantage, but if you're going for 100% original, you'll have to settle for original spokes and a lot of other less than optimum parts.

widow me-1

Buchanons did my Excel rims and made custom spokes SS (get polished)......they are awesome.......but they special made them for my rims, sure they could make them for you and have stock type, or you could send them some.......I can't recall, but they may have been different from side to side......I know they are different front to back

They told my that their spoke supplier in the UK went out of bussiness, so they bought the spoke machine and shipped it to LA, they upgraded it and it's 100 years old.......I think they have PIC's of it on their website

PS: They also have some nice weights to go with those spokes

Speak to Angel, or his secretary......and they are fast

If you buy off the rack from Buchanan the hub end of the spokes will have the "B" logo on them. This can be polished off but would be much easier if it wasn't embossed to begin with.

Wow, when I'm riding my H2 I can't see what's on the spoke heads. :P

I thought most of us here where at least in our 50's, who can see close up without reading glasses. I'm using 2.5 readers now  No way I could
see detail in a little spoke

HA Ron! I have four sets of prescription glasses all bifocals (can't do blended) and I have 350 readers in the garage and a magnifying glass (reading jets):
1) Far and reading
2) Far and computer
3) Computer and reading
4) Far and reading sunglasses

I'm doing about the same thing, Barry.

Standard bifocals
Computer/reading, whole lens is like bifocal part of standard ones
Trifocals with +2.0 std. bifocal lens in middle and another +2.0 diopters in bottom part, for close-up work
Bifocal sunglasses
Old frames with new lenses, no bifocal, just distance lenses, for watching TV.

I got most of them from Zenni Optical on the net. Standard bifocals with all titanium frames were about $80 delivered. You can get them for a lot less if you get cheaper frames. The quality is every bit as good as they'd be from any local optician.
