I have been wondering if the Doremi exhaust for '69 thru '71 H1 might possibly fit a '74 H1e? Has anyone tried it? I'm kind of bummed they do not make the later reproduction exhaust, but if the early pipes fit the later models then I would not care. If they don't bolt on, what mods would be needed?
Thanks,
Bill

not bolt on for sure
and think the later H1 engine isn't fit like early H1 engine on the frame which is also different.
Afraid it won't be an easy job with a bad result anyway

The early pipes were 2 piece, and the headpipe / muffler joined at a front mount (which the later frames still have) but the later engines are rubber mounted, and the one piece pipes were rubber mounted at the rear mounts to "float" with the motor. I think they would fit, but you would need to use a motor with solid mounts. Not certain about the rear mounts either, so the quick answer is no. :(

on later H1 the exhausts are also fit higher on the rear on the frame so should work on the frame too.

The frames changed a lot between '72 and '73, and the exhaust mounting points are different. You can look at the Denco chamber mounting instructions on the resource site and see the differences.

Well that is disappointing. They are so shiny and new. I hope they might retool for the later bikes some day. Thanks for the replies, you have saved me from an expensive experiment.
