Post subject:  Gauge cover finish

Need to refinish one gauge cover ( textured finish H2 ) can't seem to get it, heat, no heat, heavy coat thin coat etc. Am I spitting into the wind trying to match original finish?
Any help with technique or brand would be appreciated.
TIA
Mike

A member powder coated mine in wrinkle black - a very close match.

Hot day, wet on wet, (load it on a bit), paint both covers at the same time! Walk away when it looks O.K. - don't seek perfection!

Someone on here used Harley crinkle as I used the rustoleum at napa. Always etch primer them is what I do.I used my old bbq got it hot and used it to bake them. Now after a whole bunch of times of rebead blasting them I got it close. Then after about a month a nieghbor was by and accidentally knocked one over. :x The paint now days here in california sucks as does any other chemicals here. At work I use lectric motor cleaner to clean brakes then brake clean to dry them.

Thanks for all the replies, was trying to match one which is perfect but I know it's not going to happen, I'll always see the difference, going to swing by powder coaters this week to see what he has to match and have them both done.

I let Don paint mine when he did my gauges and they are great. Just another option. ;)

After 4 tries I ended up using Harley wrinkle, with heat before and after, finally the way I wanted it to look.
