About the last piece I have to put on the H2 is the side stand and I can't tell if mine is bent or not. Is the side stand on a 1972 H2 straight or does it have a slight bend towards the top(mine does).

It should be straight, and will be too short in any case. Many guys use an S series stand because it's a little longer. Other guys like me have a piece welded in to keep it at a decent lean angle, because the S stand still isn't long enough.

I understand that at least for a while there was a regulation in the US that required a certain lean angle of a motorcycle while on the side stand, so the H2 isn't the only motorcycle to suffer.

A lot of guys have been very satisfied with the use of S or KH smaller model kickstands.
Even with them being longer, if the holes are hogged out or the bracket sloppy allowing it to flex out.
Yer not going to improve very much of anything.
Get an S3 or KH400 one and make sure its a snug fit, you're all set.
Not "correct" but RB said he wasnt planning to drop by. ;)
(check your horn just in case though)
