Were those hardened? What material? That shouldn't be a difficult lathe project, maybe I could whip one up for testing...

no its not hardened just plain jane steel its the pin that is hardened. i would have repaired my own except the locating pin was snaped off flush and i couldn't drill it out. every one i have come across is rusted beyond usefullness. stainless ones would be nice.

Yes stainless would be the ticket! Why do they need to be hardened? Doesn't seem like a lot of stress as the force is in compression and minimal - am I missing something? Also, I remember a recent post where a fix was using JB Weld then sanding smooth.
