Always a boost getting new parts and making steady progress. You have done some very nice work. Maroon was my favorite color :D

Worked on the H1's seat pan.

New sheet metal cut out (got to use my HF sheet metal sheer, cut through it like butter):

Old rusty bits cut off and cleaned up to bare metal:

New part welded up and cleaned up a bit:

Now it's time to shower and pack for Arizona.

I don't mean this as a criticism since that's some excellent fab work but aren't those seat pans more or less available either E-bay or re-popped? Either way nice job all the way round!

If you know of a source, I'm all ears, I didn't see anything on eBay, Z1parts, Z1enterprises, or ReproductionDecals.

RB talked about repro-ing the H1 pans but I haven't seen anything come of it:

Here's a complete assembly for $500: http://www.hvccycle.com/seats-kawasaki.html

Other side and front end repaired, and I started tacking in the new upholstery barbs.

I got the rims and tires dropped off at the dealership today for new tubes and tire installation. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a couple bikes that someone offered me for free, and I might have emptied my welding gas tank, so there are plenty of things that keeping getting in the way of progress, but I'm working on it!

Got the rims reinstalled and oil pump cover installed. After checking with the eBay seller that was supposed to ship my new headlight a month ago and him blaming USPS, the tracking number suddenly shows activity. I just need to get more welding gas so I can finish up the seat pan.

Finally got around to getting the title put in my name. The bike hasn't been registered since 1975. When she told me that I had to pay all of the fees to bring it up to date, I about died but then she said I'd just have to pay one year, so it was $35 total for license and title transfer fee.

My headlight came in the mail today. I believe I have in my possession everything needed to complete the bike. Well, except welding gas.

...and then I go and break my welder. I decided to switch over to flux-core wire for the last 8 tacks. In the process, I managed to snap a copper stud that the grounding wire connects to, and I did this while hand-tightening a wingnut. So no welder for now, which means no upholstery barbs, which means the seat doesn't get covered, which means the bike doesn't get finished before I leave for Tunisia today.
