The gasket is there for a reason.... I've seen high revs on Suzukis and Kaws when loose cap was the cause.... nothing to do with cable.

Carb sure looks like a H1 with tophat and cap with seal needed.

Hi Cliff
I agree that the notch in the carb body is the same as an H1 carb.
I confirmed that my carbs are all stamped S2U-0 which is correct for an S2A

Seal IS for anti-rotation that prevents cap loosening.
It also minimizes air leak. Along with the tight fitting throttle cable ferrule.

No vacuum? It is trying to equalize vac under the slides to air pressure. So NO.

It does effect mixture.

The manual does not show a gasket for the cap, does someone know the part number or is it part of the cap? I guess I should clarify it's for an H2B, thanks

I can't find a part# or source but you could make one.
Use an old innertube and cut to fit snug inside of cap... a ring about 3/16 wide.

The slot is at atmospheric pressure so it will never leak air. It`s not under any engine vacuum. You could unscrew the top completely and it won`t make any difference.

I disagree! Slot is not a problem but a loose cap will make it rev to the moon. Been there- done that.

I`m not suggesting remove the cap and run the engine. I mean you could THERORETICALLY remove the cap and assuming the slides don`t move the engine won`t suck in any more air.

Underside of Cut Away (CA) does not have same air pressure than atmosphere.
Especially at part throttles.
Air leaks at low throttle from the jet needle hole/e-clip/cable end.

Two different types of carb tops

One has an insert for the inner cable holder, and idle shaft, and a setting ring to hold it all in place

The other is as you show, screw on, one piece.

Both use a thin rubber "gasket", not sealed.

If that area was sealed, the slide wouldn't be able to rise in the body.
