Need some advice from the experts please:
I'm in the final assembly process on my S2A project and noticed the carbs have a female slot in the top of the slide barrel similar to the H1s, however the screw on caps have no male lug to mate up with it. Is this correct? Seems like screwing the flat surface of the cap over this slot would create an air leak.

That's normal. I assume that without it, the leak at the cable entry isn't enough to ensure free movement when you lift or lower the slide quickly.

There should be a gasket fitted in the cap.

Right, but it can't seal at the notch. I assume that's a controlled leak.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I intentionally removed the gasket before I took the photo.

The slot is at atmospheric pressure so it will never leak air. It`s not under any engine vacuum. You could unscrew the top completely and it won`t make any difference.

I disagree! Slot is not a problem but a loose cap will make it rev to the moon. Been there- done that.

I`m not suggesting remove the cap and run the engine. I mean you could THERORETICALLY remove the cap and assuming the slides don`t move the engine won`t suck in any more air.

Is it possible that happened because the loose top sat higher, pulling the cable and and lifting the slide a little?
