Post subject:  Alternative parts

Hello, I'm putting together an H2B and having trouble finding some parts. I started with a roller from California that was about 60% complete. I think the guy I bought it from just put together parts he had to make it look like a bike. After about a year I'm up to about to 90% complete but it's getting harder and harder to source parts for the bike. I'm getting parts from all the usual place, Diablo, Jess Bikes, Z1 and a lot of parts from Europe. Right now I'm assembling the forks and trying to find part part number 44043-048, a simple washer. It's part part number 5 in the attached pic. Since a lot of these bikes have similar parts I'm wondering if there's another fork washer that's close to this from another bike. Or, can I just leave this out and use the top of the triple tree to hold the other parts in place? Don't want my headlight rattling any more than it has to. Also, in the picture there's a part right below it with no number, is that the same as part part number 4?

I'm not trying to be anal about a perfect by the numbers bike, I just want it to be pretty good. As it is I'm using a 73 purple paint job and decals on the 74 bike. If you're a purist, sorry. I'm resurrecting an H2 from the bones of bikes other people dissected.

I'm also looking for a seat for the H2B which is longer than the 72-73 seat. There are plenty of early seats but the later ones are like hens teeth. I can't even find a seat pan. If anyone has a source, I'm all ears.

Thanks for listening, Dave

The item shown w/o pn should not be there... not used.
You should be able to use a common o-ring for the 44043-048.
Good luck with the seat pan search!!!

I put together a basket case H2B a few years ago, I feel your frustration!

I bought many very good condition parts from Danny in California.
