Post subject:  DIRT BIKEs VALUE NEEDED

Hi All,
about 5 years ago my boss bought a WR250R and a 125.
well about 4 1/2 years ago he got seriously sick and died .
bikes have sat unused in his barn less than 10 hours on either of them.
i was asked if i was interested in buying them.
just need a ball park figure on what they are worth.
i have looked and there are not a lot of this model for sale
any help is appreciated.
thanks mark

That's sad Mark, news like this always makes me step back a bit and reflect......

On the bikes - the big factor would be miles on them and do they run... If left sitting these newer EFI type bikes can clog up in a big way, petcocks and tanks seem to grow sludge too (ask me how I know)......

If they run and how well they run will be the kicker on determining price. Plus clean title for the street.

Folks love these little dual sport bikes, many around here.

nadaguidescom should have values by category and condition.

2500 for each is a good starting point average sale price without seeing the bikes. They are 5 years old but new at the same time. He could probably get more but I would be a buyer in the 2k-2500 range on either. 4k for both would be nice package deal.

After poking around a little more, I am probably on the low side of the price scale. That being said, the bikes haven't been run so they will need some work. The YZ1215 is kind of getting popular again and values are creeping up on good bikes. A more realistic value is probably 3k each. That is what they are selling for in my area on Craigs so maybe 5k for both is a fair deal for all involved considering the fact that these are new bikes with no wear. They probably paid between 5-7K each when new. Good luck. I would love to have a YZ125 and will probably look for one later this year. Super fun bike to ride and it does good on the trails too.

 Not if you're a 57 year old 240lb fat guy like me! That's why I need my CR500R to haul me around.
